DECA Manufacturing is pleased to announce that we are now certified for a CMMC Level 1.
CMMC is Cyber Security Maturity Model Certification and is designed to help protect federal contract information, e.g. information which is:
- not intended for public release
- provided by/generated for the Government under a contract to develop or deliver a product to the government.
A CMMC certification examines a company’s operations and procedures, (e.g. the documentation, mechanisms, activities, and individuals) as they relate to cyber security.
- Specifications are the document-based artifacts (e.g., policies, procedures, security plans, security requirements, functional specifications, and architectural designs) associated with a system.
- Mechanisms are the specific hardware, software, or firmware safeguards employed within a system.
- Activities are the protection-related actions supporting a system that involve people (e.g., conducting system backup operations, exercising a contingency plan, and monitoring network traffic).
- Individuals/groups of individuals are people applying the specifications, mechanisms, or activities described above.
CMMC is required for companies that work with DOD contracts; whether that work is directly with the DOD or indirectly through a larger direct contract. In other words, CMMC requirements flow down through the supply chain and includes roughly 80,000 companies from larger firms such as Lockheed International to niche suppliers such as DECA Manufacturing. The goal of CMMC is to keep both data and system’s safe from cyber hacking and theft. There are three levels to CMMC which will be rolled out in phases beginning at the end of last year, October 2025.
