DECA’S focus on government contracts comes as Ohio positions itself as a premier, state of the art, defense manufacturing center. Recent U.S. Department of Defense awards make it possible for businesses, like DECA Manufacturing, to secure awards through government vendor communication programs including PTAP and PTAC. Program.
Trained to work with PTAC and PTAP
DECA has worked with government contractors before as a secondary supplier. Seeking to expand this business, DECA is working with Richland County (PTAC) Representative Rich Delisio to learn how to maximize opportunities and successfully compete in the government marketplace. PTAC’s programs are designed to guide business like DECA Manufacturing through the process of Procurement Opportunities and develop partnerships with some of the state’s largest defense suppliers. This includes companies such as L3 Harris, Lockheed Martin, and General Dynamics Funds, through cooperative agreements with state and local governments and non-profit organizations for the establishment of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs), are provided by The PTAP (Procurement Technical Assistance Program)
Defense Industry Experience
Many of our government-related projects have been defense related. These projects often require ruggedization, failure-proof reliability, and specialized services such as IPC-620A certified soldering. Projects have included:
Cable assemblies for laser-guided munitions
Wire harnesses for drones
Wire harnesses to update and upgrade heavy duty equipment
DECA Supports Many Industries
We understand that not all government contracts are for defense-related products. DECA Manufacturing produces wire harnesses and cable assemblies for a range of industries including industrial, medical, and transportation. No matter what the end-use application is, these wired components provide the data and power finished products require to function and deliver today’s increased capabilities. For example, DECA has built:
Box builds for pharmaceutical monitoring
Smart iOT device controls
cable whips for shipping facilities
We can build anything from components such as wire leads to IOT enabled, box builds. We have even used our knowledge of cables and connectors to build related products. One recent government contract provided DECA with the opportunity to build high-strength, breakaway lanyards. These lanyards, designed for avionics use, are designed to support weights of up to 2500lb and then simply break away when the maximum stress point is reached. These cables, even though they don’t carry data or power, are a great fit for our capabilities because these lanyards required our expertise in wire specifications, cut, strip and adding terminations.
Cyber Security
To be registered as an approved supplier, companies must meet cybersecurity requirements for the transfer of sensitive information. As a defense contractor DECA Manufacturing meets all cybersecurity requirements.
